Hatching the Egg
Once you set the time, date, and your nick name on the Music Star, you will be presented with an egg and three gift boxes on the screen.
Normally, you would just let it hatch and start the fun.
The Music Star, however, is a bit different than other versions in a few aspects; the most important one for now is: once you start the first generation, you get some money when the egg hatches, along with an instrument, and a toy for your baby.
The amount of that money is not sufficient, to say the least. Once your character becomes a teenager, you can no longer feed it with the food available in the fridge (Baby Food and Baby's Milk). Instead, you will have to buy 'adult' food from the shop, which is 1) not always available, and 2) not always cheap.
Additionally, you do not earn Gotchi Points by playing the games.
The standard games are meant to raise the Tone, Rhythm, and Original points, that influence your character's career later on.
This why you should do a little trick before you hatch your pet.
Set the time, date, and your username and wait one minutes for the egg to hatch. Once it does, it will go to the screen where you can name your pet.
Do not do that just yet. 😉
Instead, hit the RESET button at the back of the toy, and then choose DOWNLOAD from the menu. Let the egg hatch - repeat the whole process. Preferably a few times.
This will:
- Start you off with more instruments to choose from
- Start you off with more toys to choose from
- Start you off with MORE MONEY
If you don't spend on super expensive items and food that costs 500 GP, you should be fine until your character reaches the Adult stage.

Earning Gotchi Points
There are two additional games in the door icon that are meant for earning Gotchi Points, BUT they are only available at the Adult and Senior stages:
- Cake Shop
The correct cake is displayed in the upper right hand corner and you can grab the cake if you time it right by pressing A to move the claw down.
- Fruit Harvest
Match the fruit in their correct boxes by pressing A and C to move the boxes from left to right.
Items - Code Generator
To obtain additional items for your Tama head to Tamagotchi Center and use the code generator! You can generate codes for food, items, instruments, and toys.
Correct Instruments & Toys Are Important
Your character will not always be born with its favorite toy and/or instrument. It is also not a rule that when you start a new generation your character will love the toy and instrument it inherited from its parent. Bad toys raise the stress level, instead of reducing it, and bad instruments have negative influence on your character's performance during Pro Debut Music Exams and concerts. You can check whether your character likes its toy or instrument by going to the 4th icon (marked as musical notes), selecting the 2nd or the 3rd option, and then choosing an instrument or a toy. If the character makes a happy face when you choose the toy / instrument, it means it is its favorite and you should let it use it. If it makes a sad face it means it hates it and you should definitely not let it use it. If it it indifferent towards the change, it means it is somewhat acceptable, BUT! if you are going through toys, make sure to do the following:
- check the current stress level of your character
- choose the toy you want to check
- go to the discipline icon and select 'play' once
- check the stress level again - if it rose, it means your character should definitely not play with this toy and you have to check the next one
If you cannot find your current character's favorite toy among the ones you currently own, just make sure to go through them, compare the stress level as per above, and simply choose the one that will make your character's stress level go down.
Music Exam [Pro Debut]
- 2:15 pm
- 4:15 pm
- 6:15 pm
It is necessary for your band to pass the exam in order to become a professional band that gives great concerts and earns money for them.
Each judge grades each band member respectively.
In order to pass the exam it is important to bring the Tone, Rhythm, and Original points high (preferably to 999 each), and to give the band members the instruments that they can play well.
While many claim that points and band practice are the most important when trying to pass the exam, for me it was very often so that although my character's skill points were all at 999, stress at 0, and it practiced with its band a lot, one of the judges would still give them a ❌. If I would then go to band's options and change the instrument of the character that got a ❌ from the jury, they would all get a ⭕ during the next exam. So yes, the choice of instruments is also very important.
Concerts
- 5:00 pm
- 6:00 pm
- 7:00 pm
Once you reach 1st place in Star Ranking (visible in the Clock screen once your character reaches the Adult stage) and have max Tone, Rhythm, and Original points, it is possible for you to earn a trophy in the genre your band is currently interested in. There is a total of 8 trophies to win.
Note: Your band can play only three concerts a day. It is therefore not possible to trigger more than 3 concerts by resetting the time on the same day.
Music Genres:
- Latin
- Rock'n'Roll
- Classical
- R&B
- Jazz
- Hip Hop
- Pop
It is possible to influence a change of the genre your band currently likes. To try that, go to the Status icon and choose BAND. After that change the instruments of each member of the band.
This way it is possible to earn up to 3 different trophies a day (but where's the fun in that? 😜).
Practice & Discipline
The Training icon contains 4 different, important options:
- Practice - you can instruct your character to practice playing its instrument (this will increase Tone / Rhythm / Original points AND the stress level; when the stress level is too high, your character might not listen to your commands)
- Play - let your character play with its toy to reduce the stress level; use this option multiple times to bring the stress level down to 0 (while playing, the music skills will gradually decrease, so make sure not to let it play too much)
- Time Out - discipline your character when it refuses your commands (too much discipline increases the stress level)
- Praise - use this option each time you notice your character practicing on its own, or when it did well during a concert (this will lower its stress level and make it happy)
Obtaining Certain Characters
As advised by Sarah, it is possible to influence getting certain characters through maintaining certain levels of stress:
0 - 20: Chantotchi, Mimitchi, Kuromametchi, Mametchi
20 - 40: Makiko, Memetchi, Togetchi, Shimashimatchi
40 - 60: Onputchi, Violetchi, Kuchipatchi, Dorotchi
60 - 80: Maidtchi, Sebiretchi, Tarakotchi, Androtchi
80 - 100: Masktchi, Kunoitchi, Gozarutchi, Tosakatchi
Special Characters
You can obtain the special transformation items - Girl's Destiny Star and Boy's Destiny Star - from the code generator at Tamagotchi Center.
These items can be sent to the toy and used to transform an adult character into one of the special characters:
Dazzlitchi and Dreamitchi
Starting a New Generation
There seems to be a difference in programming between the wave 1 and wave 2 of the Music Stars: on wave 1, when you start a new generation, the baby will inherit some of the money from its parent, while on wave 2 you start a new generation with 0 GP. The list of shells with info whether they're wave 1 or wave 2 can be found HERE.
A huge help when starting a new generation in case you have a wave 2 Music Star is one of these items (I believe there is also a clothing boutique; works the same way):
When you use such an item (infinite amount of uses, does not disappear from inventory), your character has a chance of randomly selling something from its shop and receiving money. This can be quite literally a life saver in case you need food for your character. Try and get one of these shop items as quickly as possible, to always have some sort of backup when it comes to earning money.
